5 Secret Steps to Killer Web Copy
Having trouble writing web copy that gets your target audience to take action? It's not really that hard to do. What you
need is a simple step-by-step plan to get it done
Before I tell you the plan I want you to realize that to become an effective marketer and copy writer you must position yourself as a
problem solver.
What problems will you solve? Your target audiences's problems.
The key to the 5 secrets steps to writing killer web copy (or any copy for that matter) is to ask the following questions:
- What's your target audience's problem?
- Why hasn't your target audience been able to solve their problem up to now?
- How can the problem be solved?
- What do you have that can solve the problem?
- What should your target audience do now?
To write effective web copy simply write down the answers to these questions.
Let me give you an example. We'll take the ever popular topic of weight loss.
1. What's the Problem?
The problem is that being overweight is unhealthy, unattractive and can lead to problems with one's self
esteem.
Okay, so there's the problem that your target audience is facing. What you need to do is start your web copy
by highlighting these problems. By doing this you get the message across that you understand your audience. You "feel their
pain".
2. Why hasn't the Problem Been Solved
Those looking to lose weight are often forced to deprive themselves of delicious food in favor of bland and boring "diet
food"...yuck! Because of this, it's hard to stay on a weight loss diet for enough time to the point where it does any good.
In addition a lot of "weight loss pills" and supplements have been found to be unhealthy and have lead to
health problems for those taking them.
Again...you're showing your target audience that you "get it". Show through your web copy that you know what it's like to walk
in their shoes. Maybe you've actually had the same problem yourself, hmmm?
3. What's Possible?
What if you could lose weight safely and quickly and you wouldn't have to give up eating the foods you really love to
eat?
Your web copy should show your target audience a future where they no longer have to deal with their current problem or the
limitations that keep them from achieving their goals.
4. What's Different Now?
The problems and limitations that have kept you stuck in your rut are no longer a problem. You can now lose that
excess weight and do it without giving up your favorite foods, without having to eat like a rabbit, and without having to take dangerous
pills...
This is where you explain who you are are and what you've found...your product. Explain why your product is different and
why/how it can solve your target audiences problem.
