How To Use a Website as a Network Marketing Tool:
Part 1

In the Dream Team eCourse issue #4:Using Your Company Produced Website as a Marketing Tool and issue #8:Master the Internet as a Marketing Tool, I discussed using the Internet as a network marketing tool.  I suggest you reread those two installments to refresh your memory before going forward.

What I'd like to do in the next several issues of this newsletter is give you more detail about how to use the Internet the right way to grow your MLM business.  In doing so, I'm going to be recommending several products and services that are necessary to have if you want to generate leads with your very own website or websites.

The goal is to help you learn how to grow your business...not to encumber you with more expenses.  However, you must realize that you're attempting to grow a business and therefore it will be necessary to have the right network marketing tools.

Okay, let's get started.  Let's first take a look at why you need your own website.

Become You Own Lead Broker

In future editions of this newsletter we'll deal with the "how to".  Right now let's examine "the why".  Why do you need your own website to become an MLM success?

It is an absolute truth that no matter what network marketing or MLM company you're in you need to speak to a lot of people in order to succeed.

By the way, this is as true for network marketing as it is for marketing any product or service.  So, for example, if you decided to leave network marketing tomorrow and instead you choose to sell cars, insurance or real estate...you'll still need to talk to a lot of people to become a success.

The fact is that only a small percentage of the people you speak to will buy from you.  So you must create a never ending flow of propsects (leads).

Leads are the life blood of your MLM business.

There are two lead generation techniques taught to most network marketers:

  1. Make a list of your friends and family
    I spoke about why this is not a good method for building your business.  If you need to, go back and read why relying on your warm market is a bad idea.
  2. Buying leads from lead brokers
    Let's talk about this method and why it's no good for you.

Lead Brokers

I have purchased thousands of leads and spent many thousands of my hard earned dollars on leads in the past.  I can tell you that without a doubt this method will lead to failure for the vast majority of network marketers.

Here's why...

  1. When you buy leads from a lead broker you will spend too much money per lead
    Lead brokers develop leads.  Many of them use the Internet to do this.  Of course there is a cost involved in generating these leads.  So, not only will the lead broker pass his cost on to you but he will also charge you extra for his profit.

    So you are paying retail while he is paying wholesale for the same lead.  So, how much is the broker's profit?  You have no way of knowing.  He could be making a 300% profit on each lead.  Are you willing to give him that?  Generally leads will cost anywhere from $1-10 per lead.  I've even seen them priced higher.  This is ridiculous.  But more importantly you need to ask yourself how long you will stay in business when you are spending $300 a week for 100 leads.

  2. The leads that you buy from a broker will not be exclusive
    Despite their advertising and promises that you'll be the only one getting the leads...you can be sure that you won't be the only one dialing those leads that you spent $1-10 a piece for.  Their is just too much profit incentive for the lead broker to resell those leads to the next sucker...I mean network marketer who asks for them.

  3. All leads that you buy stink!
    Let me be fair...not all the leads stink.  Some will be okay.  You'll make some sales and you'll enroll some people into your MLM business opportunity.  However, the vast majority of leads that you call will be people who are simply not interested in an opportunity.  You'll find that the vast majority of people on your list will be looking for a job...not a business opportunity.

The reasons above have led me to the conclusion and should lead you to the conclusion that when you buy leads the only one who gets rich is the broker.

The purpose of the next several issues of this newsletter will be to show you how to put together your own website(s). Then you can become an Independent network marketer who can stand on his or her own two feet and know that today, tomorrow and the next day that you have more than enough people to talk to about your products and opportunity.

When you're able to generate your own leads...

  • you pay less money per lead
  • the leads are all yours
  • the leads are better quality because you control how they're generated

In the next issue we'll take a look at the types of websites you can use to develop your own never ending flow of interested propsects.
