How to Use a Website as a Network Marketing Tool:
Part 2

Let's take a look at the types of websites you can use to grow your MLM business.

Two Types of Websites

In my experience there are two types of websites that work best for generating leads and positioning yourself within your target market.

1. Small "lead capture" websites, and
2. Large "content" websites

1. Small "Lead Capture" sites

A small lead capture site is going to have only 1-3 pages.  Before we move forward I want to give you some examples.

Go to www.MLMSecretsThatWork.com to see the small lead capture site that I use to market the Dream Team.  And go to www.SecretSugars.com to take a look at a lead capture site I use for my health and wellness MLM company.

These sites are simple and effective.  The copy writing is focussed on the needs and interests of my target audience.  Most importantly these sites give something away for FREE.  From a marketing point of view "free" is the most powerful word in the English language.

When people use a search engine like Google and Yahoo they are generally looking for information...usually to solve problems  What these small lead capture sites do is get infront of those people with a quick, concise offer of free information to help solve those problems.

As you can see from reviewing the sites above, in order to get the information they're looking for, people need to enter their name, email address and sometimes, their phone number.

Once a person has done this they now become a prospect because they've established that they're in your target market (they have an interest in the benefits of what you're marketing).

As more and more people request the information offered at your website you build your prospect data base.

In future installments of this course we'll look at how to set up and handle this data base to grow your business.

By the way, you can build that site for any business you want. 

Whether you're marketing vitamins, a healthy juice, legal services, household products, etc., there's a large market out there looking for the benefits you're product delivers.  Use a lead capture site to give away a free report or free CD to provide more information about the solutions to your target market's problems.

2. Large "Content" Sites

As the name suggests a large content site is not limted to how many pages of content it has.  A content site can have 10 pages or 1,000 pages of information about any particular subject matter.

Some call these sites "authority" sites.  As that name implies, the author of an authority site is positioning himself or herself as an authority in the topic that is the subject matter of the site.

In my humble opinion a good example of such a site is the one you're on right now. (I hope you agree).

I can tell you from my personal experience that large content sites, if built properly, will get you a lot of free traffic and will do a great job of positioning you as an authority in the eyes of your target audience.

Free Traffic

Why are large content sites so good at generating free leads?  To understand the answer to this question you have to understand how a search engines work.

Search engines, like Google, Yahoo and MSN are in the business of giving their customers what they're looking for.  So, if you go to a search engine like Google.com right now and type in any search term you want Google will return a list of websites that provide information relevant to the search term you entered.

By the way, on that search engine result page (SERP) there will usually be two columns of results.  The column on the right contains a listing of "sponsored links". The sponsored links are the "pay per click" column.  Advertisers pay to be listed there.  Generally, whoever pays the most per click gets listed highest on the page.

The column on the left contains the "indexed" listings.  The great thing about having your website listed on the indexed side of the SERP is that you do not pay when someone clicks on your link.

If you have a website that advertises your products, your expertise and your opportunity on the left side of the SERP you will get free traffic.

Obviously, when you get free traffic you will no longer have a monetary expense for the leads you generate. 

The thing you need to know for now is that it's a lot easier to get a large content site indexed than it is to get a small lead capture site indexed.

Why?

Because the search engines love authority sites. 

Remember, they're in the business of returning the most relevant and informative results for their customers and authority sites provide more content and information than do the smaller lead capture sites.

So, which is better a small lead capture site or a large authority site?

The truth is that they're both great.  If built correctly and advertised the right way, both sites will generate enough leads to keep you busy. 

What I've found is that having both and using them together works the best.  My network marketing business is now generating well over 100 leads per week.  Many of those leads are free.  This adds to my bottom line which is of course...net income.

The great thing about having an authority site is that many of my prospects call me after having read the information at this site and listening to all the audio information and they're ready to sign up as students.

The site does the work for me.

Do you get a large content site with your membership with the Dream Team?
